Project606 Dance is a Chicago based dance company created in 2007. The company is led by Artistic Directors Maureen Caspers and Meghann Mueller, who have collaborated artistically since they met while pursuing undergraduate degrees in dance at Texas Christian University. With Project606 Dance, Maureen and Meghann seek to communicate a personal experience with the audience through movement driven explorations, delving into the intricacies and subtleties of movement.
Maureen’s choreography focuses on the investigation of architectural, yet fluid movement. She strives to explore the relationship between classical and distorted lines and the connectedness of seamless, organic movement. Meghann’s choreography is the search to unite the physicality of motion and the deliberate manipulation of body, while maintaining the purity of honest movement.
Since its formation, Project606 Dance has collaborated with other artists within the Chicago dance and art communities. The company has a broadening repertoire and its work has been shown at Dance Chicago. Most recently, Project606 Dance held its winter concert, dance PROJECTions, a collaborative concert with a local jazz company From the Hip Dance Project.
Project606 Dance brings together dancers with distinct experiences that culminate in a rich design of technique and artistic eloquence. Maureen and Meghann believe that collaboration within the company fuels a more complex dialogue with exhilarating and sometimes startling results.
Chicago and its arts community has had a deep and meaningful impact upon Maureen, a transplant Texan, and Meghann, a native Chicagoan. The city and its rich experiences have helped to forge the company and set its aesthetic path. As a result Project606 Dance thrives within this diverse and stimulating artistic community.
